This is what the Vet at the Shelter said. If it that low and for short - Term he would be fine and stop drinking etc as much. However, if long term it can effect the immune system. Hence the vitiman C recommendation. However, C can be rough on the stomach ( I know this for a fact after eating a much of chewable ones in a short time), so give it with food and not too much. Also, because of the compromised immune system don't take him any place that he might come into contact with sick animals (dog parks, petsmart or petco etc). There is also dog can start eating more if on it too long, so watch his weight and make sure he not getting heavier. Other then that they is not much they know of to help fo long term use, however he is still looking through his journal etc to see what is out there. I will let you know if he finds anything else out. Also, I will talk to Ricki's vet about it when I see him.
Hope that helps.
